Chakkarai Pongal Premix
Chakkara pongal is what the Goddess is offered first, and it is also the dish that keeps you at the stove longest. This one doesn't.
Organic rice, organic jaggery and moong dal — measured to proportion, cashews and raisins packed in, nothing left for you to weigh or guess. Twenty minutes and a spoon of ghee, and the neivedhyam is done, tasting exactly the way it should.
How to make it
Take the pre-washed rice and dal mix into a vessel and add 6 times the water. Boil gently until cooked. Add the jaggery pack in full and stir until it melts — no need to clean or filter it, that's already done. In 3–4 tbsp of ghee, fry the cashews and raisins included in the pack, and pour it over the top. Serve hot.
One thing: don't use a pressure cooker. It won't give you the right consistency or texture. An open vessel is worth the extra few minutes.
What's inside
Organic rice, organic jaggery, moong dal, cashews, raisins. All measured to proportion. Serves 3–4.
Good to know
No preservatives, no additives, no colors. You'll need ghee and water — everything else is in the pack.
